The Feast of All Feasts!

The caterers arrived 8 hours later than expected. No one spoke English. I realize that when the pressure is on, I can speak Arabic with enough accuracy and authority that my point is made loud and clear. The doorbell rang at 3 in the afternoon – 15 tables, a few hundred plates and glasses and silverware. I wore my chef hat, event organizer hat and hostess hat all at the same time.

The best food success of the evening – honey baked brie and almonds and gougeres (thanks Dave) – people could not get enough of it! The meat of the fried and baked turkeys literally slid right off the bone – tender and juicy. My amazing guests…and the food that they brought…and their desserts!!! The pies and puddings and cakes and homemade ice creams!!! Glasses over flowed with robust full bodied wines! A feast fit for kings! Candles, miniature pumpkins, holly leaves, cornucopias….pine cones and confetti. Like a scene out of a fairy tale we dined under a clear, chilly and starry night.

Friendships were formed and memories were made. Children found their own form of entertainment… The boys sang…though I’m not sure about the lyrics. Flowers and poinsettias…big cheers for the hostess and the greatest Thanksgiving Dinner ever!
