The Great American day of feasting has come and gone. My first few friends arrived just a few minutes before 7pm….and the last one left at nearly 3am. Fantastic…stressful…nail-biting exhilaration…crossed fingers…shear madness and calm. I can’t think of any other words to describe the days and hours leading up to my feast. After just a few minutes past 7pm we were passing crab soup – filled martini glasses to the lucky early arrivals. The evening had officially begun!
Everyone looked on in amazement at the incredibly beautiful table before them. I, ‘Martha Junior’, was completely in my element. The opportunity to spoil my dear friends with good ‘ole American hospitality – it’s not something I do everyday – but when I do- its a treat for me too.
The first course was pumpkin spice soup. To my disbelief I prepared the exact amount of soup needed for all 40 guests. Not an spoonful was left. As the evening went on, we sampled and savored and gobbled up all the wonderful treats…and then there were the desserts. Everyone brought such wonderfully festive foods….and sweets….and wines!! And Marlowe, what a perfect puppy she was all the night through! I’m starting to realize that she’s a bit of a social butterfly…stopping by to say ‘hi’ to everyone – in exchange for a nibble off their plate
.
Our bellies were stuffed and our wine glasses were full…a perfect perfect end to the best Thanksgiving Feast EVER!!!
